Today's Song of the Day is Perfect Places by Lorde. The alternative pop star released her second studio album Melodrama in June, and with it, got her first number one album. This song was the third single released, after Green Light and Liability, and holds the final spot on the album track list. Perfect Places is an upbeat song about being young and the things that youth seeks. Lorde, still being twenty, has a lot of lyrical expression over her two albums about the struggles of growing up. This song is relatable and has an electronic backing that is not heard anywhere else in the album or in her body of work. When the track goes to just Lorde's vocals, it is stunning to say the least. This tune, along with Melodrama as a whole is worth checking out.
