New Band Alert: Magic Giant

Magic Giant is a band with energy- and a lot of it. The trio, formed in 2014 contains Austin Bisnow (lead vocals, cello, synth, percussion), Zambricki Li (viola, fiddle, banjo, harmonica, cello, mandolin, octave mandolin, dobro, lap steel, backing vocals), and Zang (acoustic guitar, cello, bass, percussion, backing vocals). The group debuted with an EP in 2015 and recently released a debut LP entitled "In The Wind". This sunshine-indie band with sounds relating to The Strumbellas and AJR has a ton of talent to offer.

The debut album is one to be noticed- packed with folk-indie genre mash-up-ing. The band has just a lively feel about them; especially in popular lead single "Set On Fire". The track features well sung vocals and a lot of dynamic instruments can be found in this song as well as many others. "We use whatever instruments are best for the song," says Bisnow. “Lyrically, when we get together to write,” adds Zang, “it’s different from what we would have imagined individually. That’s the beauty of co-writing—we become one unique voice we may never have found on our own.” The teamwork comes across quite beautifully- "Jade" is an explosive track, one to get into your head for sure. Each track just flows into one another with a lot of cohesion. This album feels fresh and modern- something folk has yet to really see as of late.

The indie-folk group has already seen its fair share of touring- but this winter is taking to the venues for one hell of a headlining tour- and if this upbeat album is any indication- it should be a lively show not to be missed!
