New Music Alert: Hippo Campus
After teasing Twitter with an out-of-context photo of the movie Bambi in April, Hippo Campus lead singer, Jake Luppen, has revealed the song of the same name to the world. Credited as the sole songwriter, this track is vocally dominant by Luppen. There is a simplistic instrumental backdrop, proving that a solid track does not require bells and whistles galore. The band introduces some soft and bright synth vibes to the track- something the band has never fully incorporated before. The focal point of the song is arguably the lyrical content; the track can be interpreted to be about finding one's own place in the world, showcased with lyrics such as the catchy outro, "Wait and see, I'll be making my own way now... to where I got to be." This track follows up the June single "Passenger," which can also be found on the band's recently announced sophomore album. This project drops September 28th, but until then the two released tracks should definitely peak listeners' interest for the time being!
