New Music Alert: The Japanese House

Last Friday, GMAT favorite The Japanese House dropped a brand new single entitled "Lilo", their first work since 2017's "Saw You In A Dream" EP. The Japanese House, also known as Amber Bain, is an indie synth-pop act from Buckinghamshire, England currently signed to Wolf Alice and The 1975's label "Dirty Hit Records". She has toured the US with the 1975 and has played festivals all over the world, such as Lollapalooza.

"Lilo" is penned about Bain reflecting on a relationship, and she stated it was inspired by a friend encouraging her to pursue a relationship. She describes "Lilo" to be about "how, to me, her every moment - paired with her approach for life- seemed as serene as the image of a lilo floating across the swimming pool.... it is a reminder to me that I am good at falling in love and I can survive falling out of it".

The track is soothing, synth-filled, and dreamy. The Japanese House is so polished at telling a story through beats, vocals, and (obviously) lyrics. This new song just continues to showcase the evident talent Bain has. Her vocals and words are serene and beautiful. This track is a must-listen for fans of MUNA and Oh Wonder.
