New Music Alert: Billie Eilish
Right before kicking off a sold-out North American tour indie-pop standout Billie Eilish released a new single today entitled "when the party's over"-and ladies and gentlemen- this song right here is one of the best released in 2018.
Produced by her long time producer, Finneas O’Connell, ‘when the party’s over’ is a gradually building, minimalistic track featuring solely her incredible vocals and a piano to accompany them. The rawness and straight beauty of Eilish's unique voice is not to be underestimated ever. This song is her strongest work to date in terms of vocal talent. The layering and harmonizing is nothing short of infectious and impactful.
The lyrics depict Eilish arguing with her partner and just wanting it to be over as she so boldly states in the bridge; "Let's just let it go. Let me let you go."
Billie in an interview with Coup de Main said the tune is "not really, “I’m sad,” you know what I mean? So “When The Party’s Over,” I feel like that’s such a sentence. It’s like, “I’ll call you when the party’s over,” you’re on the phone with someone and you can’t hear them, they can’t hear you, it’s loud, they’re mad at you for some reason. I feel like everybody’s had that struggle with someone – somebody on the phone yelling for some reason, and you’re just like, “You know what? Fucking leave me alone." This track encompasses her vision effortlessly and with a certain sorrow.
