New Music Alert: Jabber
Jabber is a four piece, non stop force of girl power and feminist pop-punk band from Oakland, California and Portland, Maine. Aftering founding in 2012, they became a draw to sold out festivals like The Fest in Gainesville, Florida as well as being constantly inspired by bands like Lipstick Homicide, Josie and the Pussycats and The Spice Girls.
Living 3,000 miles apart did not stop Jabber and their creation for their most recent EP “Forever,” released on October 12 via Asian Man Records. This EP, consisting of five melodic and energizing pop-punk styled songs, began as a challenge for Jabber. Even though they took this risk by being long-distance, they were able to come together in the studio to create this “grown-up” toe-tapping EP. In addition, “Forever” is Jabber’s first release in three years.
The fifth song, titled “Caesar,” is in reference to Mean Girls’ character, Gretchen Weiners and her iconic rant in class about Caesar and Brutus. “Why should Caesar get to stomp around like a giant? What's so great about Caesar? Hmm? Brutus is just as smart as Caesar…” You get the point. Jabber was able to take such a notable scene, in one of the most quoted movies of our time, and turn it to an energizing pop-punk anthem. If you love Mean Girls, you will love this song and the rest of the EP, guaranteed.
Next month, Jabber will be taking their energetic, poppy punk show on the road. This tour, with good friends Ramona, will be Jabber’s first-ever tour.
