New Music Alert: Boxford
On December 1, Boxford released “Facade,” a three song pop-punk EP focused on raising mental health and suicide awareness. Inspired by bands like Neck Deep, Blink-182, Set Your Goals, and Sum 41, Boxford created a solid three song realistic viewpoint on mental health and suicide awareness.
This Virginia Beach pop-punk band is turning the tides with their style and message. With their success, they have had the chance to open up for bands like Tiny Moving Parts, WSTR and PVMNTS, Belmont and Such Gold. Along with this, Boxford had the opportunity of playing the Vans Warped Tour 2018 in Virginia Beach, Virgina on July 12.
Though short, this EP is important. Each song, separately, is filled with messages of mental health issues and suicide awareness. All together, the three songs flow nicely together. Although we all talk about mental health and issues it causes, we still do not talk about it enough. Boxford’s EP is what we need to represent these issues. It’s a great way in educating a different audience and crowd of people.
Overall, my favorite song on the EP is “Incandescent.” This song, to me, stands out on the EP with the mix of sounds and lyrics. I also feel, between the three songs, it is the best produced song. It is a great conclusion to the EP that shares the progress of growing and becoming stronger throughout time. “Incandescent” is something we can all relate to.
Their next show is a combination of their EP release show and a benefit for mental health. For this show, they partnered with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. So, all proceeds will be donated to AFSP. Boxford is teaming up with Invaluable, Accident Prone, Scotty and the Steiners, Eric and Aviana, and I Fight Vampires to make this show happen.
