Vampire Weekend Announces Return
It’s been nearly six years since we last heard any new music from Vampire Weekend, but that’s about to change. Frontman Ezra Koenig took to Instagram Jan. 17 to finally release some details about their forthcoming album.
It was originally teased that the fourth Vampire Weekend album was going to be named Mitsubishi Macchiato, but that no longer seems to be the case. The album will bear the initials “F.O.T.B.”, though what that stands for, we aren’t sure.
What we do know is that it will be a double album comprised of 18 songs. They will release two songs every month until the album is out. It looks like they’re potentially aiming to have it out in three months, but as Ezra says in his post: “...I usually regret everything I say cuz it turns out to be wrong...”. However, that is the current plan.
This is the first Vampire Weekend album without Rostam Batmanglij, who left the band in 2016 to pursue a solo career. So, we’ll see how the dynamic and sound of the band has changed without him. They’re set to release their first new song next week, and we’re all very excited. The world of music hasn’t been the same without them.
