Hero Pattern
After 10 long years, New Jersey indie rockers Hero Pattern graced NYC with a reunion show. They brought fellow Jerseyans Fairmont and New Hampshire's The Minus Scale along for the ride, bringing a night of nostalgia to a packed room full of aging emo kids - I felt right at home. Fairmont opened the show, warming up the crowd and playing their hearts out. Their set featured a couple of covers, including a track by The Minus Scale - who in turn, covered a Fairmont song while they were dominating the stage. During TMS's set, there were a handful of nods to New Hampshire, as a number of attendees had driven down from their shared home state to hang out in the big city. To close out the set, Hero Pattern's Jason Kundrath joined the band to assist on vocals, and the excitement pouring out of him was palpable. Closing out the night of course was Hero Pattern, and I don't think they were performing without a smile for more than a few seconds at a time. Kundrath mentioned how excited he was to be on the stage, and sent his love and appreciation to an adoring crowd while noting how much he'd missed playing shows. All in all, it was a very special night, and a fantastic showcase from Mint 400 Records. There's no telling if Hero Pattern will do another reunion show, but to quote an early Fairmont track - I'll wait and hope.
