Dilly Dally Brings Their Spunk To Brooklyn
Brooklyn wasn’t ready for the arrival of Canadian rock band Dilly Dally, who headlined their biggest show in the states on March 21 at Music Hall of Williamsburg. The group is infamous for their lo-fi, growling rock music; music that feels like an awe-inspiring smack in the face. They brought that power for sure, and then some.
Lead singer and guitarist Katie Monks captivated her crowd with her raspy screams, bellowing out tracks from the group’s recent album, Heaven. She encapsulated the power and confidence she sings about, bringing a face to the passion behind the lyrics. Guitarist Liz Ball and bassist Jimmy Tony kept the group on their feat, ripping rhythms and basslines prominent in every song. Solos in tracks like “Sober Motel” and “I Feel Free” could be felt deep within the body. The power behind drummer Benjamin Reinhertz’s backbeats echoed throughout the venue as well, producing a sea of headbangers. Dilly Dally’s showmanship shone through every song. Their mixture of haunting melodies and cryptic charm made for an interesting, and irresistible, night of music.
Dilly Dally are continuing their tour throughout the Midwest and West Coast over the next month. With their raspy rock ballads and undeniable ambition, this is a band you do not want to miss.
