New Music: Tally Spear’s “City Girl”
Tally Spear, a female pop artist rising from her city home in London, has spent the past few months finding herself within her music. For fans of Alice Merton and Sigrid, Spear’s new single, “City Girl” is a fantastic memoir of her city life growing up as well as a introducing new sounds for her next musical era.
The single is following up her EP Fade To White, which released in late 2018. But, even though she had a successful release, Spear was not excited about her work. She said, “Something just happened with my taste. I just went through a change of what I was listening to when I was writing. It just became this new sound. I had a very clear vision of what I wanted to do in terms of production.” After working closely with Martin Hollis for five months, a new Tally Spear was born.
“City Girl” is a super hip and catchy song we all should be listening to, either if you reside in the city of not. Between her vocals and background instrumentals, Spear’s new song makes the listener feel like they are in the city.
