The Rockstar Energy Disrupt Festival Visits Syracuse, NY
The Rockstar Energy Disrupt Festival stopped in Syracuse, New York earlier this month. With fan favorites like The Used, Trophy Eyes, and Andy Black, Syracuse was filled with various fans, activities, and music throughout the day. The Lakeview Amphitheater was not only filled with fans of pop-punk, rock, and alternative music, but it was the kickoff for the second week of the festival. With a view of Onondaga Lake and a colorful sunset during Atreyu and The Story So Far, everyone was treated to a lovely day.
Hyro The Hero kicked off the festival with a burst of energy. Though a small crowd, Hyro was able to move fans with his rock and hip-hop infused music. Second on the festival stage was Juliet Simms. Her live performance reminded me of old school rock and roll. Simms' voice, along with her performance, is nostalgic and captivating.
Although John Floreani of Trophy Eyes was fighting a cold, he put all of his effort into their set. With help from their fans, Trophy Eyes made their time on stage, across the pond from their home in Australia, worth it.
Memphis May Fire is one of the heavier bands on the tour. By combining Matty Mullins' strong vocals and his fellow bandmates talents, Memphis May Fire performs a high-energy, crowd moving set that you should not miss. Four Year Strong then brought a variety of excited fans to their set. Throughout the whole set, fans bounced around in the pit.
Andy Black's performance, in comparison to the Vans Warped Tour in 2016, was substantially better. He improved his vocals as well as his presentation on stage. Along with Andy Black, Sleeping With Sirens proved that with passion and practice, live performances improve tremendously. Sleeping With Sirens, without a doubt, had one of the strongest performances of the day.
Atreyu kicked off the festival on the main stage. Their set is filled with so much energy and positive vibes. After Atreyu's surprise-filled set, The Story So Far performed. Though the The Story So Far may not move frequently during their performance, it is still obvious that they put everything into their music.
Circa Survive brought the missing energy back into the main stage. Anthony Green, the vocalist for Circa Survive, wowed the crowd with his strong stage presence and vocals. The Used, a very obvious fan favorite, performed after Circa Survive. Fans all throughout the Lakeview Amphitheater were on their feet and singing along to The Used.
Thrice was the last performance of the night. Festival goers who stayed were treated to a solid rock show that was the ideal ending to the long, fun-filled, day.
