Evanescence Releases Brand New Music Video For Single 'The Game Is Over'
New York-based goth rock/metal band Evanescence is back with their brand new music video for their second single "The Game Is Over" off their latest and soon to be released album The Bitter Truth.
It has taken 9 years since their self-titled album to release all brand new original material and it was well worth the wait. The first single off the latest album was "Wasted On You" which was released in April.
“This song is about being sick of the facade. The disguises we wear for others to make them feel comfortable, the inside feelings being so different than what we show on the outside to fit within the boundaries of what’s socially acceptable, or what’s not going to make you unpleasant or too ‘weird’ to be around,” Lee said in a statement to Rolling Stone. “‘The Game is Over’ is a promise to myself and out loud that I’m going to be more of my real, inner self on the outside — not lock her up because she can’t be contained anymore. It’s also a prayer to become better, to not feel so messed up, locked up, and hurt inside.”
Many remember Evanescence for their breakout 2003 debut album Fallen when their music video for their single "Bring Me To Life" aired on MTV's TRL at #1 for weeks on end. The first forming of Evanescence was in fact 1995 but they didn't make a splash for years to come.
Until this very day, 25 years after the original forming of the band, they successfully have released four studio albums with a fifth one on the way, Fallen (2003), The Open Door (2006), Evanescence (2011), Synthesis (2017), and The Bitter Truth (2020). Each album had hits that if TRL still existed, they would play them everyday.
