Queen Naija Releases Music Video For Single 'Butterflies Pt.2'
Platinum-certified R&B singer/songwriter Queen Naija recently released her music video for her single "Butterflies Pt. 2". This single is the hypnotic sequel to the previous single "Butterflies", which was one of three Platinum-certified singles from her self-titled debut EP, released in 2018 by Capitol Music Group. With its sweetly tender vocal work and dreamy yet minimalist, acoustic-guitar-laced production from Rice N’ Peas (Kiana Ledé, Bazzi), “Butterflies Pt. 2” landed on the biggest R&B playlists on four major platforms and has already surpassed 14 million cumulative global streams, generating an average of two million streams a week.
Directed by Roger Alexander of AlphaMale Visualz (T.I, Rick Ross, 2chainz) and produced by Princess Mbanuzue, the vibrant video is an ode to happily-ever-afters. Shot in Atlanta, the clip traces the many stages of a relationship – from the first glance exchanged by two strangers to giddy first dates to the deeper love that emerges over time, yet still retains a fairy tale glow. Queen Naija and her boyfriend Clarence White star in the video.
The New York Times hailed Queen Naija as “the first soul star of the social media generation.” The Fader noted, “Queen Naija is a master of the break-up anthem.” Her debut EP also featured the Platinum singles “Medicine” and “Karma.” A Detroit-area native, Queen began singing in church at age three. She first found fame online through the YouTube channel she launched with her former husband. Documenting their breakup in “Medicine,” she initially released the song independently and saw it debut at No. 45 on the Billboard Hot 100, a nearly-unheard-of achievement for an unsigned artist.
