New Music Alert: Never Home

As I wait for the cold fall and winter seasons to pass, I take to music to remind me of the warm summer vibes. The other day on Bandcamp, I discovered a North Carolina pop-punk band called Never Home who released their self titled, debut EP this past June. Inspired by Blink-182, New Found Glory, The Story So Far, and Neck Deep, Never Home’s self titled EP is the perfect soundtrack to warm up your winters and spice up your future summers.

One day, five strangers decided that they all had the same dream of “playing music that they believed in, and to create something that would outlive them all.” Never Home did just that. Though another pop-punk band, Never Home took to the studio in February of 2018 with passion to write about their lives and memories with friends, struggles with mental illness along with the feeling of not understanding where you are in life. These five songs are unique in the aspect of combining intriguing hooks and sounds with the emphasis of storytelling and sentiment.

My favorite track on the EP is Dublin Road. This song opens up the EP with a heartfelt message about always having a place in your childhood town, no matter where life may lead you. My first listen to this song left me stunned. This song takes us through the life of a person, who most of us can relate to. “You don’t deserve to be this sad … you’ve got everything you need … you’ll always have a home on Dublin Road.”

In the past year, Never Home has made a great impact in the Carolinas. They’ve had the opportunities to play with artists like Keep Flying, John Nolan, Messenger Down, Infinity Spree, Come Clean, and many more. Their mix of melodic, aggressive, and honest attitude toward current times will forever hold an important part to the Carolinas. Make sure to check out Never Home and their EP for a “ … Chock-full of heart and choruses that refuse to leave your head.”
