New Music Alert: Goalkeeper
When Ryan Beebe, Marc Juliano, and Cody Ritchie’s original bands split up at the same time, they took a chance to create the pop-punk band we now know as Goalkeeper. Since then, they have released a handful of pieces and have played with State Champs, Homesafe, The Starting Line, and Hit The Lights and many more. Earlier this month, this Philadelphia and southern New Jersey pop-punk band released their new EP titled Bad Times Don’t Last. They have proved, no matter the situation, they can create great music with a wonderful meaning.
Inspired by Blink-182, New Found Glory, Knuckle Puck, Seaway, and more, Goalkeeper released one of the best pop-punk EPs I have listened to this year. The songs on Bad Times Don’t Last are high-energy tunes mixed with excellent writing and catchy sounds.
The EP opens up with a song titled “Sunshine,” my favorite song off of the five-song EP. The song offers a warm feeling with a promising message. Ever since discovering Goalkeeper, I’ve played “Sunshine” again and again. This song will definitely make your bad day turn to good. “You're my sunshine on a cloudy day … when you’re not here I know you're that not far away.” In addition, if you are a fan of Blink-182’s classic pop-punk music, you will most definitely enjoy this song.
The EP then progresses to “Chances” and “Lately.” The third song, “Lately,” breaks up the energy of the album. Even though it is an acoustic song, it is the perfect song for the transition of sounds into the fourth track, “Left Lane”. To conclude the EP, “Nothing At All” is another solid track which tells a story that nothing will stop Goalkeeper.
Bad Times Don’t Last is the perfect mix of Goalkeeper’s constant smiles, high-energy, and early 2000’s sounds. So, make sure you’re on watch for Goalkeeper. I am sure they will be one of the next big pop-punk bands in the scene.
