My Last Breath EP Review
Post-hardcore/metalcore band from Manchester, New Jersey released their debut EP Insanity earlier this month. For the past two years, My Last Breath has dedicated their time to playing shows with highly acclaimed bands like Enter Shikari, Like Moths to Flames, We Came as Romans, and Hollywood Undead. After seeing the response from their countless shows, they decided creating their first EP was the next best step.
Creating this five-song EP, in my mind, was an excellent way to make their mark in the forever growing music industry. Personally, I’ve listened to my share of core music, but My Last Breath’s EP stands out to me more than others. They have created five very unique songs with their combinations of comforting choruses and heavy breakdowns.
The EP opens up with a track titled “Bad Blood.” Out of the five songs, I recommend listening to this song. It’s a great introduction to not only the EP, but to the skill level of My Last Breath overall. It is the perfect representation of their talent. “Bad Blood” gives us a taste of what their future music will sound like.
No second is wasted in this EP. It is the definition of core. Insanity is infused with heavy breakdowns that make me want to hop in a mosh. If you take time to listen to the EP, I bet you will think the same. All of the songs are wonderful two to four-minute bursts of energy that all people should have.
Overall, this EP means a new beginning of the band. Insanity is an outlet for the band to prove they are more than the shows they play. It shows that with hard work, something amazing can happen, despite the hardships one might have. This EP just leaves me wondering what the future will be for My Last Breath.
