Up-and-coming Bronx Rapper Grey Hillz
Grey Hillz released his first album titled Mirrors a Self-Talk Story, a 13-track reflection on his childhood, life struggles, and real experiences. Growing up in the Bronx, the rapper has used his experiences to relate to the people surrounding him and those who listen to his music.
With influences like Jay Z, J.Cole, Meek Mill, Drake, Jadakiss, and 50 Cent, Grey Hillz has taken his love of music to help him put his experiences into words. “My music can be very personal, I speak mostly from experience and events that occur in my life,” Hillz said about his new project. “I used to write poetry when I was younger. It can now take me 15-20 minutes to write a song on a good day and up to 3 hours on a bad day.”
Mirrors a Self-Talk Story, featuring popular tracks “Outta The House,” “What Id Do! (I Like You),” and “Nvr $Witching” all have personal vibes that resonate with fans because of the realness in his lyrics. He mentions how his girlfriend brings a unique influence to his music, letting him know when he should fix up a track because it’s not where it should be, which motivates him even more.
The 26-year-old hopes to continue sharing his music from the South Bronx to the rest of New York, with a goal of performing at Summer Jam. Speaking on his upbringing in the Bronx Grey Hillz said, “The Bronx plays a big role in my music, coming from the city where Hip Hop was born, I naturally adapted to the flows, rhyme, and lyrics.”
